Position Available – Legal Administrative Assistant (Squamish)

Busy family practice law firm based in Squamish, BC is seeking a full-time Legal Administrative Assistant or Paralegal. If you are a smart and positive person who is very organized and has excellent communication skills, then this position is suitable for you. You also should be punctual, trustworthy, and mature. This position requires either (i) a university degree or (ii) minimum 4 years experience as an administrative assistant.

Your primary tasks will include answering the phones, interviewing and vetting potential clients, booking and arranging consults, managing client files in office software, opening and maintaining files, sending emails and faxes, filing court documents, doing various searches, ordering and managing documents and records, liasing with clients, preparing Lists of Documents, managing BF system, sending out invoices, arranging discoveries and other court events, helping to prepare the lawyer for same, managing the lawyer’s schedule, managing the firm’s tasks list, ordering office supplies, transcribing witnesses’ testimony at trial, and closing files. Some legal drafting, legal research and witness interviewing will be required.

Candidates with the following may be given preference: (1) experience with a law firm, especially in family law;  (2) experience with Clio and the Microsoft Office suite of apps; (3) experience in area of estate administration; (4) working with Legal Aid. You will be trained by the current LAA.
